Potter’s Light of Life Assembly (“we”, “us”, “our”, or “the Church”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information entrusted to us through the Potter’s Light of Life Assembly mobile application (“App”).

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, when we share it, and the choices available to you.

By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

We will not use personal information for purposes materially incompatible with those stated in this Privacy Policy without giving prior notice or obtaining consent where required by applicable law.

3. Legal Bases for Processing

Where data protection regulations require a specific legal basis for data processing, the Church relies on:

  • Your explicit consent
  • Performance of a requested service or agreement
  • Compliance with legal, statutory, or regulatory requirements
  • Legitimate interests pursued by the Church (such as platform security, membership coordination, and ministry operations), balanced against your privacy rights
  • Protection of the vital interests of members or the general public

Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out prior to withdrawal.

4. Authentication Providers

The App may support single sign-on through third-party services such as Google or Facebook. When using third-party login, the provider shares profile and verification data with us according to your authorized profile permissions. The external provider’s privacy policy governs their collection and processing of your credentials.

5. Third-Party Infrastructure and Service Providers

We employ trusted external infrastructure partners and cloud vendors to operate the App, including services for:

  • Cloud databases and data hosting (e.g., Google Cloud, Firebase Firestore)
  • User authentication infrastructure
  • Application hosting and API management
  • Push notification delivery
  • Application diagnostics and crash reporting
  • Secure payment processing (e.g., Flutterwave, Paystack)
  • Media hosting and Content Delivery Networks (CDNs)
  • Transactional email and SMS delivery

These third parties process information under contractual agreements and applicable privacy rules. We configure these tools to ingest only the minimum data necessary to execute their designated services.

6. Artificial Intelligence (AI) Features

Where AI-assisted features (such as study assistants, administrative automation, or sermon summarization) are integrated into the App:

  • Data sent to external AI providers is restricted using data-minimization controls.
  • Personally identifiable information is scrubbed or excluded before transmission where technically feasible.
  • AI-generated responses provide spiritual, educational, or organizational support only, and do not constitute professional legal, psychological, or medical counsel.
  • Users must avoid inputting sensitive confidential details into open AI fields.

7. Tracking Technologies and Local Storage

The App uses local device storage, mobile analytics tokens, and system identifiers to:

  • Keep user authentication active and secure
  • Preserve in-app settings and devotional bookmarks
  • Identify application failures and generate crash logs
  • Monitor system performance and load times
  • Protect against malicious use or abuse

Where required by applicable data protection laws, we request consent before deploying non-essential tracking mechanisms.

8. Notifications

The App may transmit push notifications regarding:

  • Direct or group messages
  • Church-wide announcements
  • Upcoming programs, services, and calendar updates
  • Newly released sermons, devotionals, or hymns
  • Volunteer tasks and ministry schedules

You may manage or revoke push notification permissions at any time within your device’s operating system settings. Essential account and security alerts may still be delivered via email or in-app prompts.

9. Sharing of Personal Information

We do not sell personal data. Personal data is shared exclusively with:

  • Authorized pastors, branch leaders, and Church administrators on a strict need-to-know basis
  • Vetted third-party technical and financial service providers (such as cloud hosting and payment gateways)
  • Law enforcement, regulatory bodies, or judicial authorities when required by law or binding legal process
  • Professional legal and financial advisers bound by strict confidentiality duties
  • Third parties for whom you have granted explicit consent

10. User-Generated Content

Members may post prayer requests, forum discussions, comments, or media files. You remain accountable for the material you transmit.

You agree not to upload abusive, defamatory, infringing, fraudulent, or unlawful content. Potter’s Light of Life Assembly reserves the right to moderate, hide, or delete content, and suspend or terminate accounts that breach platform rules or applicable statutes.

11. Intellectual Property, Trademarks, and Licensing

All software code, application architecture, UI design, official media, original recordings, devotionals, and publications produced by Potter’s Light of Life Assembly are owned by or licensed to the Church.

11.1 Church Trademark and Logo Usage

The name “Potter’s Light of Life Assembly,” the official Church seal, insignia, badges, and all associated logos are exclusive trademarks of the Church.

Users and external entities may not reproduce, download, modify, display, or distribute Church logos or branding for commercial purposes, non-official events, or external publications without prior written permission from Church leadership.

Church branches, departments, and fellowship units must strictly comply with official brand standards when using Church badges or media assets.

11.2 Third-Party Trademarks and Brand Logos

Trademarks, service marks, trade names, and logos belonging to third parties—including but not limited to Flutterwave, Paystack, Google, Facebook, or other integrated service providers—remain the exclusive property of their respective owners. Display of these logos within the App serves solely for payment processing, authentication, or technical identification, and does not imply sponsorship, endorsement, or direct affiliation.

11.3 Hymns and Worship Material Licensing

Hymns and historical liturgical lyrics made available within the App are published under the Public Domain and are reproduced solely for spiritual, educational, and congregational worship purposes. Any modern musical arrangements, translations, or editorial notes not in the public domain remain the intellectual property of their respective rights holders.

We keep personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the operational purposes described in this policy, including:

  • Maintaining active Church membership records
  • Fulfilling administrative, statutory, and accounting obligations
  • Resolving disputes and investigating security events
  • Enforcing our agreements

When personal information is no longer needed, it is deleted, destroyed, or irreversibly anonymized in accordance with standard disposal practices.

13. Data Security

We maintain technical, administrative, and physical measures designed to protect personal data from loss, unauthorized access, misuse, or alteration, including:

  • Data encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS)
  • Cloud-level access rules (such as Firestore security rules)
  • Strict server-side authorization checks
  • Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) across all administrative tools
  • Secure key and credential storage outside client-accessible repositories

While we follow industry standards to safeguard your data, no network transmission or electronic storage method can guarantee absolute security.

14. International Data Transfers

Because our infrastructure partners operate global networks, your data may be stored on servers situated outside your state or country of residence. Where cross-border data transfer laws apply, we ensure that required contractual frameworks and data-protection standards are upheld by our cloud providers.

15. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction and applicable data protection legislation (such as the NDPR or GDPR), you may have the right to:

  • Request access to personal data held about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete records
  • Request deletion or erasure of your personal records
  • Restrict or object to specific data processing activities
  • Request data portability to another provider
  • Withdraw consent at any time without penalty

To exercise any of these privacy rights, contact us using the details provided below.

16. Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable statutory age of digital consent) without verified parental or guardian consent. If we discover that personal data from a child has been gathered without required legal consent, we will delete that information immediately.

17. Third-Party Links

The App may contain links to external sites, platforms, or payment interfaces. Potter’s Light of Life Assembly does not control and is not liable for the privacy standards, terms, or content of external third parties. We recommend reviewing external privacy policies before submitting personal data.

18. Updates to This Privacy Policy

We may periodically revise this Privacy Policy to reflect modifications to App functionality, third-party integrations, operational workflows, or statutory obligations. The current version will always display an updated “Last Updated” date at the top of the policy. Continued use of the App following posted updates constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
